Inspired by the breathtaking beauty of the sunset over the sea in Naoetsu, Niigata Prefecture, the goal was to create a work that captured this existing beauty without detracting from it. Additionally, the focus was on the ebb and flow of the tides, aiming to harness the power of nature by designing a system where seawater fills containers at high tide and only the water remains at low tide. The shape of the artwork was inspired by the reflection of the sky in puddles on the beach, leading to the idea of reconstructing seawater into geometric forms. Locals expressed gratitude for the opportunity to rediscover the beauty of their everyday sea through this artwork. To maintain the piece, numerous volunteers gathered to collect debris washed ashore and preserve the artwork. It served as a moment of awareness for people to recognize the environmental issues facing the sea through the artwork.
