An installation focusing on the fleeting beauty of a single drop illuminated by light.

Light projected from beneath a shallow basin melts the ice, creating droplets and splashes that emit momentary flashes. These ephemeral phenomena shift in form over time, inscribing delicate rhythms of sound and light into the space.

Each falling drop generates a particle of light that breathes through the stillness, illuminating the space as the chain of ice, water, and light makes the passage of time visible. By eliminating artificial control and adopting the natural process of melting as a structural principle, a quiet, life-like rhythm emerges within the space.

This work marks Nishi’s first exploration of the relationship between light and time, serving as the origin of his later light-based works. Through the transformation of matter, it seeks the poetic traces of time engraved in space.
