This work was created for a competition by Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi and Tokyo University of the Arts on the theme of new souvenirs. In this day and age, when most things can be bought online, what do people want in a souvenir? I thought it would be possible to create a new kind of souvenir by making it an act rather than a thing. I focused on "photography" and the phenomenon of the "afterimage effect". The afterimage effect is a phenomenon in which the image of light that remains in the eye appears to float in space, and we thought that by using this and photographs we could create a simulated travel experience. Everyone has the opportunity to take pictures when they travel, and it would be interesting to be able to use these pictures to enjoy conversations with other people.
